When writing your poems do you ever consider what you will do with them? You are probably so immersed in your fresh piece of work that you are simply writing out the words in some structure, and recording the moment of inspiration that motivated you to write in the first place. So, what will you do with the finished piece of work?
One lady moaned to me at a workshop that she never seemed to get her poems published. As a joke I asked where she sent them and, meeting with a blank stare, quipped: ‘Do you simply put the finished work in a drawer?’ Her answer was ‘yes’. Obviously this was the reason why her poems remained unpublished.
