The UK Short Story Competition is a new writing prize where the winners are judged by the public.
The competition is for short stories up to 2,500 with a defined beginning, middle and end. There is a first prize of £1,000, a second prize of £500 and a third prize of £250. The winners will be published in an anthology along with 27 shortlisted stories. The writers of these will each receive £50.
Reading groups around the UK will be reading the entries, and members of the public are also invited to become judges. Each entry will be sent out for judging three times.
