YA author Lisa Williamson didn’t want to be a writer, but started typing stories when she was temping between acting jobs
‘I didn’t always want to be a writer. Despite being a shy child, at the age of nine I decided I wanted to be an actor. I spent my teenage years performing with local amateur dramatic societies and dreaming of stardom. I went on to study drama at university and had been working as an actor for about seven years when I was struck by the desire to write. I loved acting but was growing increasingly frustrated that I was always working towards someone else’s creative vision and found myself craving an alternative creative outlet.
