The White Review Short Story Prize 2018 is open for entries. The competition is for short stories between 2,000 and 7,000 words by emerging writers, ie those who have yet to secure a publishing deal. Stories may be entered in any literary style or genre, and the prize is intended to reward innovative writing that expands the possibilities of the short story form. The winner will receive £2,500 and their story will be published in the print edition of The White Review. Shortlisted stories will be published online and their writers will be given feedback by editors from The White Review.
Enter original, unpublished stories. Writers must be based in the UK or Ireland, and must not have, or have had, a contract with a publisher or have published a full-length work of fiction. Writers may have previously published non-fiction and/or stories in magazines and journals. Agents may submit on behalf of authors. Submit one story only. Send stories on numbered pages as a doc, docx, pdf, rtf or txt file. The first page should consist of the story title and word count. Include a covering letter with name, contact details and story title.
