A feminist retelling of medieval history snared a publishing deal for a debut author whose theme is strong women, says Adrian Magson
‘As a child my family– and especially my father who was a member of the Richard III society – lived and breathed history,’ says Catherine Hokin, debut author of Blood and Roses (Yolk Publishing), which came out in January. ‘Especially the War of the Roses. So the characters and the prejudices around them were very familiar to me.’
