Patrick Forsyth compares two kinds of travel and perhaps gives you an excuse
Some years ago, after a period of intense persistence, I received a commission to write my first travel book. A period of brooding about an idea, embellishing the descriptions used in submissions and chasing up those (the majority) who did not reply, finally changed in an instant to one of having a publishing contract and a deadline and acting rapidly to set up the journey I would write about. After writing pleading letters to airlines and hotels to try and organise reductions in cost, I was booked and ready to go.
