Evolution Magazine  |  Issue 10

I’ve probably waxed lyrical before about the Lancer Evo being one of the most adaptable cars money can buy. Ok, I agree, you can buy anything and change it’s raison d’être if you throw enough money at it, but whether any other car lends itself as well to that process as the Evo – regardless of whether it’s a road, show, trackday, sprint, drag, or full on race car – is certainly negotiable! Take this issue’s feature cars for xample... due to a different requirement from their owners these cars which include Evos from VI to IX, not only cover all six disciplines, but also do it very well! We kick off with Chris Dodd’s fastidiously maintained and immaculate Evo IX which has a handful of carefully chosen mods designed to add a little ‘pep’ in the cars stride and which he uses to transport his family, but he’s used it on track and has won awards at shows – you’ll see why when you read the feature. Hop across The Pond to the land of the Star Spangled Banner and we get introduced to another insane creation from Insane Speed, with John Hutchinson’s road-going sleeper Evo VIII which packs an almighty 900+bhp punch, before sitting down with Jason Flesher to hear about his street driven quarter-miler which eats the strip in 9 seconds! We top it all off with one of the newest, most eagerly awaited and highly developed Evos in the UK, namely SVA Imports latest Evo VI Time Attack car. Built to do one job and one job only, that of annihilating the opposition on track, Raef’s team at SVA have raised the bar again with this inspiring Evo creation. The car is so new, other than a trip to a flooded Knockhill and a test day at Brands,.... con't inside
