Evolution Magazine  |  Issue 11

Firstly, my apologies this issue is a little late dropping through the letterbox – or however you receive it. It’s my fault as although I am apable of multi-tasking, when one of those tasks is Rallyday, that particular skill goes out the window! If you’re not sure what Rallyday is, have a look at the report elsewhere in the magazine and I hope it will help you understand! It’s a unique annual event which takes two of us an insane amount of time and effort to create, but anything you’re passionate about means you do everything you can to do it as well as possible, and judging by the response we’ve had this year it was time well spent.
In fact being ‘unique’ could be a suitable theme for this issue – whether it’s Russell Stone’s Evo5 show car, which he’s spent time, money and thought over striving to make it stand out in the crowd in order for it to become a show winner with some unique touches. Then there’s Simon Norris’s own review on him regaining the 1/4mile world record in his unique Evo 9 SWB – something which has taken Simon a lot of time and effort to do and largely alone as a one man race team! There’s also report on another unique event in the annual events calendar; TOTB.
Strangely, this is the only team based event in the diary, and apart from the MLR500 that’s the way it’s always been. Looking across the pond to our American cousins, one of the most long running and unique performance events is Dave Buschur’s ‘Shootout’ – something which has
become stuff of legend, so we sat down and had a chat with the main man, which makes for an interesting read.
Of course this magazine is also unique being the only quarterly magazine for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. Ok, it might be late once in a while, but hopefully that means you just look forward to it a little more!
