Gedcom

A Gedcom (Genealogical Data Communication) is a ‘plain text’ file with no images that contains information about a person’s ancestors and meta data which links those records together. This type of file is known as a ‘common file’, which means that multiple family history software programs can communicate with each other, allowing you to upload your family tree onto more than one website without you needing to upload details of each ancestor manually.
