The Imperial War Museums’ (IWM) War Memorials Register, containing the names of more than one million casualties of WW1, is now fully searchable online.
As well as names, the database includes 23,000 photographs of memorials and can be fully searched by surname, memorial, location and more at www.iwm.org.uk/memorials
The IWM currently holds records for more than 74,000 memorials in the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man, with the database including civilians as well as those who served in all wars. Searches can provide locations of the memorial, gravestone or roll of service or plaque where casualties are commemorated, along with biographical details and photographs.
