KELLEY AND KRIS DENBY REFER TO THEMSELVES AS “OLD SOULS.”

They grew up in small towns in older homes, which gave them an appreciation for age and a way of living that involves caring for things, rather than discarding them the instant the bloom of youth has passed. Their company, Hemlock & Heather, started in 2012 and is based in Austin, Texas, where they create wall hangings and other custom art using underappreciated wood. They’ve caught the attention of the likes of West Elm, which now carries them in its “Local” section.
