Our kit tests are 100% independent. The test team is made up of Women’s Running staff and contributors, who come in all shapes, sizes and speeds – but who all love running! They are:
Jennifer Bozon, assistant editor; trains three to four times per week
Jackie Brydon, accounts manager; races ultras and tricky Cornish coastal events
Claire Chamberlain, columnist; has just run a hilly trail 10K
Tina Chantrey, contributing editor; trains for around three hours per week
Elizabeth Hufton, editor; runs twice per week
Lisa Jackson, contributing editor and member of the 100 Marathon Club
Olivia Neocleous, advertising sales executive; runs four times per week
Cristina Slattery Lopez, advertising manager; training for her first 10K
KEY CONSIDERATIONS
When you’re choosing high-vis kit, make sure you know where your money’s going
How high? Some high-vis items are just a bright colour, which won’t be enough if you’re running at night. Look for large areas of reflective material that bounces light from cars and streetlamps so you stand out.
Colour When it’s completely dark, it doesn’t really matter what colour your kit is – if it’s not reflective or lit up, you won’t be seen. However, fluoro colours are more visible in low light, such as on overcast days or at dusk, so think about when you’re likely to run when you choose your kit.
Placement Reflective elements or lights should ideally be placed on areas of high movement to maximise visibility to drivers and cyclists from a long way off: look for reflective patches on your cuff, or lower leg.
Lights Nothing beats actual lights for helping you to be seen at night! Look for small, light and bright LED lights that will stay put when you’re running and check battery life and/or charge time.
UNDER ARMOUR COLD GEAR NOVELTY LEGGING

First impressions? A nice feel to the leggings, lightweight and I like the design.
How good was the fit? Perfect fit around the thighs, bum and tum! They fit on the hips perfectly – not too low, not too high. The legs were 2.5 inches too long for me so I had to turn them up, but I am short!
