Furniture & Cabinetmaking  |  March 2010
Taking time out to look around a bit and take stock of the things that are going on that impact on what we do, I ventured beyond the gates and even further into the built environment than F&C would normally travel in pursuit of inspiration. It came in the form of Frank Lloyd Wright who is the focus for our two linked Design Influences articles this month, starting on page 6. As I discovered, Wright rarely deviated from his path and changed the course of architecture forever. The finer details of his furniture and that of those other key exponents of American Arts & Crafts, Stickley and the Greene brothers, is explored by John Bullar. Meanwhile, we get down to the nitty gritty of furniture making today with our maker profile on Huw Edwards Jones, page 16, who does battle with more than just the elements in pursuit of perfection.
