Ted Reilly

EastEnders’ award-winning gay character Johnny Carter is BACK – with an ever-so-slightly different face. Newcomer Ted Reilly is the latest addition to Albert Square, picking up with Johnny where Sam Strike left off back in 2014. So what better way to put fresh-faced Ted through his paces than with a GT shoot and interview? Gentlemen, heeeeeere’s Johnny…

What comes to mind when you think of

London? It’ll be different for everyone, really. For us, more than anything else, we think of how intricately the city is woven into the tapestry of popular culture.

The Beatles crossing at Abbey Road. The Doctor flying his TARDIS over Parliament and Big Ben. Patsy and Eddy running in and out of Mayfair boutiques, arms full of shopping bags. Love Actually. James Bond. Geri’s Union Jack dress. And, of course, EastEnders.

Now in its 31st year of broadcast, the BBC soap is so much more than a telly show; it’s an institution in its own right. Some of the biggest names of stage and screen have crossed Albert Square to quench their thirst with a pint at the Queen Vic – from Barbara Windsor to Ross Kemp; from June Brown to, yes, Danny Dyer. And 24-year-old London boy Ted Reilly is the latest to join the ever-bright cast of stars, playing the role of the prodigal son, Johnny Carter.
