One of the strangest things I read about the recent seasons of LGBT+ programming on UK TV was that it was ‘the same thing, over and over’. Obviously you have to keep in mind that there was so much programming for a reason. And wasn’t that great? I mean, for these programmes to be in such abundance on mainstream channels? I’ll tell you something for nothing, we didn’t have that in my preinternet day. At all.

When I was younger – stop me if you’ve heard this one before – you’d be lucky to catch something a bit racy on Channel 4. Luckier still if you managed to record it on video, which you would of course then label as something like ‘Muppets Take Manhattan DO NOT TAPE OVER’ so that your parents wouldn’t touch it.
