Corporal Thomas Peck Hunter VC 80th Anniversary
by Alan Murray
The Thomas Peck Hunter 80 Parade drew around 100 guests, including members of 43 Cdo FP Gp RM, Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney and eight Hunter/Swinney family members. After the service lunch was served onboard Fingal, a former Northern Lighthouse Board vessel, now a hotel moored at Leith docks. That evening the Hunter family and RMA members attended a Royal Marines Band concert in Dunfermline. During the ceremonial close, the Band, under the direction of Capt Ann Miller RM, played the ‘Hunter VC March’ composed by D R Woods and arranged by former Bandsman Trevor Brown. There then followed a recital of Cpl Hunter’s VC citation to the haunting ballad, ‘Perthshire Majesty’.
