If there’s one place to get a real flavour of how the food market is going and what is currently ‘hot’ with the masses, then it’s the festival. And we are well and truly into festival season now – whether that be mud and wellies or shorts and shades. As the free-from and vegan market has rocketed in the past few years, so has the necessity of the vendors to go with the times if they hope to make a profit (and their initial outlay for a pitch is generally pretty huge).
No longer should you go to a festival with the expectation of just a couple of options, generally provided as an afterthought, rather now you SHOULD expect to have a wealth of offerings available and all of a standard you would hope for. And I think by and large that is the case now. You can look forward to delicious gluten-free burritos, pizzas, curries, wraps and cakes as standard, so you should be able to experience the full magic of a festival without the worry about what to eat.
If that isn’t always the case and you find the options are not there for you, then make a fuss about it and cite places that do make the effort. Social media as we know is a powerful thing. Start posting on those channels and you will soon be noticed and, with a bit of luck, definitely heard. Roll on Glastonbury!
