Slow-cooker pumpkin soup

Put in a little effort the night before and you can have a velvety soup ready as a starter for a special Sunday roast with guests, perhaps ahead of the drinks and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. This recipe serves six generously, so there’s plenty to go around. Frying the onions and ginger first deepens the flavour, but if time is short, you can skip this step.
