SEEN A CLIMBING WALL at your local leisure centre and thought, ‘I’d love to try it but daren’t’? Perhaps you’re a keen walker who’s always wanted to tackle something steeper but doesn’t know where to start. It may seem like an activity for super-fit adventurers, but climbing has many forms and it’s accessible to almost anyone.

‘Climbing is a very inclusive sport,’ says Rob Adie, climbing walls and competitions officer at the British Mountaineering Council (BMC). ‘It’s open to people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels; young, old or disabled. Whatever limits you think you may have, you’ll surprise yourself at how much you can do.’
