SWEET DREAMS

According to new US research, rudeness, sarcasm and demeaning language from colleagues doesn’t just make us angry, it also affects our sleep. And the damage goes further – it also messes with your partner’s sleep. The research showed that when one partner experienced workplace ‘incivility’, they ruminated about it at home then suffered insomnia. Partners’ sleep also suffered – but only if they worked in the same industry. The thinking is having a better understanding makes them more supportive. The advice? Don’t bury your head in Netflix, instead have a good old vent but then make an explicit attempt to unwind together and create good conditions for sleep. And we’d add, have a word with the boss, too.
