Oh. My. Word. That was tough, tougher than I ever thought it would be. But I loved it! I’m a big fan of Zumba and have enough dance-based workout DVDs at home to take on any musical genre, so when we were invited to try SwingTrain, a new cardio class inspired by swing dance, the healthy team decided I was the best person to give it a try.
However, what I’m not a fan of is public exercise. I’ll attend a class with a friend for support, but I’d never hit the streets for a jog or a road cycle. Yet, somehow I missed the fact that SwingTrain Total Body Workout was being held in full public view, on the pavement in London’s Spitalfields Market, at going-home time on a Monday. It’s part of a series of free fitness workouts that SwingTrain are running over the summer.
I loved our brilliantly enthusiastic trainers, Jeff Tong and Sabine Gueneret, who joyfully encouraged passers by to join in. But what I didn’t love was the gawkers, the laughers, even the amateur photographers who, I fear, may have made me a meme overnight!
