Under the Green Homes Grant, which launched in September, you could be eligible for up to £5,000 in vouchers for energy-efficient home improvements (£10,000 for the poorest households). Find out if you’re eligible by using the Simple Energy Advice service online to check which energy efficiency or low-carbon heating improvements can be made to your home. SEA will then direct you to a list of accredited tradespeople to provide quotes for the work. Insulation, double glazing and heat pumps are among the eligible improvements.
Health in the home is now a major subject, with many of us working from home or shielding. During the summer, we’ve opened doors and windows to bring fresh air into our homes, but as winter returns we’ll need to find other ways of ventilating indoors. Otherwise pollutants and stale air could build up in a confined space, bringing a greater risk of fatigue, allergies and the spread of illness.
