Sarah’s living room is a striking mix of colour and pattern, but she doesn’t get her inspiration from current trends. ‘It’s not worth it as next year they’ll all be old news,’ she explains. ‘I spend on pieces that I fall in love with and just can’t walk away from’

Welcome to my home
A bit about me
I’m Sarah Akwisombe. I live in London with my husband, Jason, and Marley, our three-year-old daughter.
Where I live
Our home is a two-bedroom flat in an Art Deco apartment block.
What I wanted to change
When we moved in it was a shell – no flooring, magnolia white-washed walls with red paint showing underneath and an old, cold and crusty bathroom. Lovely!
How I made it my own
My taste is pretty eclectic, so I think the colours we have used have really made it our own. Plus the wallpaper in the living room is a pretty big statement!
