Kitchen
‘The original kitchen was my idea of hell – think plastic, pine and mock country-style fittings. I ripped the overhead cupboards off by myself one afternoon, and Marc came home to find half our kitchen sitting on the drive. We still laugh about it now, eight years later. To save money, we kept the carcasses and replaced the doors with some Ikea numbers we found in the sale. The tiles were all bought with supermarket vouchers, and the shelves had moved with us from our previous home, so we just tweaked them to fit the new space. Amazingly, Marc made the industrialstyle dining table from scratch, and we rescued the red school chair from a skip to sit alongside it.’
