iDrum magazine: Never miss a beat 107 Drum Show Special 2012 Back Issue

In this very special issue of Drummer, we have a preview of the 2012 London Drum Show. Now in it’s third year, we have some of the biggest names in drumming joining us at Olympia Conference Centre on 13 and 14 October, with international artists such as Aaron Spears, Will Calhoun, Virgil Donati, Derek Roddy, Horacio Hernandez and Rick Latham promising an explosive weekend of percussive amazement. A host of British drummer’s are also set to perform, including Andy Gangadeen, Josh Devine, Andy Treacey, Sudha Kheterpal, Karl Brazil, Ralph Salmins and Geoff Dugmore. We speak to all of the artists to get a flavour of how they’re preparing for the show and what they are planning to perform for the crowds over the weekend. Alongside this, we also take a look at all of the mouth-watering gear that the exhibiting companies are planning to bring to the show in our LDS gear preview, including first-look at some very special new products being launched exclusively over the weekend.
The gear theme carries on into our mammoth review section, where we take a look at no less than five kits, three sets of cymbals, two snare drums and a very neat practice pad, with this issue’s gear section coming in at just over thirty pages! Guru drums allow us a sneak-peek at their brand new Origin Performance series, TIKI treat us to a jazzy little Vintage Bop kit, EcHo Custom Drums go stratospheric with their Apollo Aluminium kit, Odery prove that quality needn’t be expensive and Pro Sonix provide everything you need to get started. Cymbals-wise, we take a look at some bespoke metal from Murat Diril, hand-made Contact and Bliss from Dream and some mighty Meinl M20 series, while DW and Gatton provide some highly innovative new ideas when it comes to snare drums.
Elsewhere we also have our regular tuition section, where the experts give handy tips at how to become better players, as well as all the latest news from the world of drumming.
