Welcome to our February issue! 2016 has begun with a bang and we have plenty of exciting things in store for you this year. By the time you read this we will have been to NAMM, the frankly ginormous trade show in the USA, to find out what new products are heading your way (we’ll report back next issue) and we have lots of incredible interviews lined up too! This month we are pleased to feature one of our tuition experts on the cover.
Following her knockout mainstage performance at the London Drum Show in November, Anika Nilles tells us how much she loves being on the road with international clinics and what this year holds in store for her. We also have Peter Erskine, who must be the busiest drummer on the planet, Don Broco’s Matt Donnelly, Jeremy Spencer from Five Finger Death Punch and modern jazz drummer extraordinaire Brian Blade.
There are lots of new items this month – we welcome Craig Reynolds to our tuition team for some serious rocking out, pro percussionist Femke Krone joins us for a guest tuition series on cajón, and we have a brand new feature, Back Stage Pass, where we speak to top drum techs from around the world – this month it’s with Yard Gavrilovic who techs for Steve Gadd. We’ve also got Caught Live with Simon Phillips, an event review from the EFG London Jazz Festival and on page 20 there’s the chance to win a Tama SLP snare drum, worth £249. Enjoy!
