Welcome to our July issue! The sun is out, festival season is in full swing and we have a sizzler for you this month.
Nick Mason talks to us in a revealing interview about building bridges with his Pink Floyd bandmates and their plans to mark the 50th anniversary of the band signing to EMI. Jeremiah Fraites discloses the simple secret to successful songwriting with the chart-topping Lumineers, and UK-funk maestro Pete Ray Biggin shares the unlikely story of how he met his idols at the age of 11 and one day received a call to play with them (in Level 42, no less).
Michael Mitchell is another youthful success story – he was asked to play for jazz supremo Stanley Clarke before he’d even left high school, and we also chat to renowned jazzer Bill Stewart about his new album and life as a respected sidesman.
We’ve got an exciting Caught Live this month as we review Ian Matthews’ gig with Kasabian at Leicester City’s Premier League celebrations. Rick Van Horn is back with a behind-the-scenes look at Remo Inc., and we have a seriously scorching competition prize: a three-pack of Dream Ignition cymbals, worth £325.
Enjoy issue 156!
