It is now less than one hundred days until the United Kingdom leaves the European Union. At the time of writing, the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement has been set back by the Prime Minister – fearing she would lose the original vote in December – to 14 January. It was announced to the Commons that the Armed Forces have put 3,500 soldiers on standby, at the request of the London government, to deal with any contingencies arising from a no-deal Brexit. The Cabinet has put forward proposed amendments to our immigration policy; the first changes to UK immigration policy in decades, which will remove the automatic right to remain from EU citizens in the UK earning less than £30,000 per year. As if topping off this mud pie of political uncertainty, both the European Commission and the British government have prioritised their preparations of the UK crashing out of the EU without a deal – for the no-deal “Apocalypse scenario.”
