BOB MAC Racing Legend

2017 marks the 60th anniversary of the first 100 MPH Lap of the famous 37 ¾ mile Isle of Man TT Circuit. Special events are being held in Scotland and the Isle of Man to remember Robert McGregor McIntyre’s (universally known as Bob Mac) magnificent achievement on an Italian Gilera machine.

A replica of the machine was paraded at the annual Bob McIntyre Memorial races at East Fortune Race near Haddington last month (June 24/25th) and will be again at the Classic TT Races on the Isle of Man at the end of August

Bob Mac is still remembered with great fondness by road racing enthusiasts worldwide as the greatest Motorcycle Road Racer never to win a World Championship.

He was born in Scotstoun, Glasgow on November 2nd, 1928, the elder of two sons to his father Robert and mother Elizabeth. His father worked as a riveter on the Clyde Shipyards.
