A Glass Act

All in the remote Caithness fishing village of Lybster.

Mention ‘glass’ as an artform and most people would instantly imagine a beautiful and ecclesiastic stained glass window. But glass has evolved through the decades and is now used in many forms. While stained glass is a recognised centuries-old craft, here in Scotland glass as a contemporary art medium is being practised, promoted and applauded on an international platform.

This is largely thanks to North Lands Creative Glass, an innovative yet remote hub that has consistently pushed the boundaries of the art world since its formation 20 years ago. During the past two decades, North Lands has become renowned worldwide as a centre for excellence in glassmaking, attracting visitors from all corners of the globe to this north-eastern corner of the Highlands.
