Happy New Year. Though cliché, I can’t help but think of the content in our first issue of 2022 as indicators of where we hope medical aesthetics may advance over the next 12 months. Business coach Ron Myers’ passion for making sustainability efforts a key priority for aesthetic clinics and suppliers (pages 22-23) is a good place to start. It’s important we sometimes look outside of the specialism to learn where we could do better. Speaking of improvement, Dija Ayodele’s longawaited hardback book Black Skin is full of intent to make aesthetics a place where skin of colour is as well catered for as white skin. Read her advice for Black patients with acne on pages 44-45.
And our Launch focus (pages 52-53) looks at how Mesoestetic took its already widely successful Dermamelan treatment, acknowledged its shortcomings and worked hard to make it even better. Perhaps these are all examples we can take inspiration from in the year ahead.
