AMERICAN AIRLINES has placed a firm order for ten Embraer 175s, exercising the purchase rights from its original contract with the Brazilian manufacturer, signed in 2013. This order, in addition to one placed in April for four aircraft, is valued at $457m based on current list prices. Deliveries will begin in 2018 and run until mid-2019.
The ten aircraft will be operated by Envoy, a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines. The jets will be configured in a three-class layout with 12 First Class, 20 Main Cabin Extra and 44 Main Cabin seats.
