Craig West travelled to Bradford for the official opening of Jet2.com’s new training centre.
LEEDS BRADFORD-BASED low-cost carrier Jet2.com officially opened its multi-million pound training centre on September 18. The cutting-edge facility – on Bradford’s Euroway Industrial Estate – is the first of its kind in Yorkshire and “the only one in the North [of England] specifically designed as a fully integrated Simulator and Cabin Safety and Emergency Procedures (SEP) training centre for both flight deck and cabin crew,” according to the airline.
The £9.5 million training centre, which covers 32,232sq ft (2,994m2), houses three full-motion flight simulators– a Boeing 737-300, a737-800 Next Generation and a 757-200 – all of which are Level D certified (enabling zero flight time training) and feature a six degrees of freedom motion system, upgraded visuals and projectors, realistic sounds and special motion and visual effects. The site also has cabin crew trainer units (including door and smoke trainers), a state-of-the-art Computer Based Training (CBT) room for pilots, and several fully equipped classrooms and briefing rooms.
