THE PEOPLE’S Republic of China’s Xiamen Airlines received its first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner from the US manufacturer in a ceremony held at Everett. The aircraft, B-2768 (c/n 41538), is one of six examples the carrier has on order. Xiamen, which coincidentally celebrates the 30th anniversary of its formation this year, becomes the third Chinese company to fly the type, following in the footsteps of China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines. “We are excited to receive our initial 787 Dreamliner which is also the first widebody aeroplane of our all-Boeing fleet,” said Che Shanglun, President and Chairman of Xiamen Airlines. “With the innovative technology and exceptional efficiency, the 787 Dreamliner will be key to our further growth and international expansion,” he added. The addition of the Dreamliner enables Xiamen to launch its first long-haul services from the company’s Fujian province base to Europe, North America and Australia.
