Out with the old and in with the new? But why sacrifice a home’s history? Keeping original elements of an older property can help you stick to tried and true traditions while still obtaining a new and refreshed look. This is exactly what architect Jim Rill of Rill Architects accomplished with this beautiful property in Adams County, Maryland. “The idea was to recreate something that would be sympathetic to the history of the property,” Jim says. Located overlooking a large lake, the site was full of potential, but dilapidated cabins, barns and an old stone silo had completely overrun the land. Though Jim eventually demolished the rundown cabin, he kept and fully restored the property’s barns.
Architect Jim Rill used local stone to add a touch of history and to match the old original silo.
