Gentlemen, start your engines! It’s duck season and our October issue is packed with coverage to start the season right. With how-to columns, well-researched reporting on duck movements, hunter success and a slough-full of noteworthy hunting features, there’s plenty to read, inform and entertain. Ever had your hunt plans upset by crazy weather, shifted bird patterns, other hunters or just about anything else? Jay Strangis confesses in “Recalculating” that changed plans are more norm than oddity on a good portion of his hunts. Jack Hirt gives solid advice for those heading to Canada to prepare accordingly for the hordes of Canada geese, while Rich Massey gives tips for taking ducks and geese on seldom disturbed rivers.
Ever shot a merganser by accident or on purpose? T.R. Hendrick and his crew target big mergansers specifically, and notes that both hunters and dogs love the hunt! Meanwhile, Mike Gnatkowski jumps states for the chance of multiple “opening days.”

AW also tackles the mysterious travels and stopovers of the continent’s mallard population, answering questions about why these birds are sometimes absent, sometimes abundant. And finally, Jarrod Spilger details Winchester’s newest shotgun while Tom Roster introduces new steel loads that perform with the best.

Great magazine!!!

One of the few magazines left that actually tells the story of the hunt like the great hunting & fishing magazines of the 60's and 70's.. Experienced waterfowlers don't want to read a generic how-to articles that are so basic only new hunters would learn anything from them. Those are the articles that are so prevalent in all the current hunting magazines. They want to read what other waterfowlers are doing across the country. How they are hunting and what tricks they are using in their daily hunts. American Waterfowler does exactly that. Keep it up. Recensito 02 aprile 2022
