A NEW festival featuring big-name acts such as the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, ex-Runrig frontman Donnie Munro and trad stars Manran has been cancelled two weeks before it was due to be held.
The Argyll Gathering, to be held in Helensburgh over two days starting on August 19, was called off this week by organisers. In an online statement the ‘Team AG’ said: ‘It is with a heavy heart that Argyll Gathering 2017 has been cancelled in its inaugural year. This is due to poor ticket sales in the lead up to the event. Every effort was made to find solutions that would allow the doors to open, but no such solution could be found. We sincerely thank and apologise to those that had bought tickets to the event.’ It is understood anyone who has paid for tickets will be refunded in full, including booking fees.
The depleted, vandalised and dilapidated playpark, paddling pool fenced off, rides removed and picnic benches in their place. Not good enough, says community council.
