Rain leads to water supplies ‘improving’

The Balmichael water treatment plant near Shiskine.

The recent intermittent rain has led to an improvement in Arran’s water supplies, despite scaremongering in a daily newspaper earlier this week which claimed the island was under ‘severe pressure’ to maintain supplies.

However, there has been nothing like the amount needed to replenish the reservoirs which have been drying up for weeks, leading to Scottish Water to continue to urge customers to use water wisely.
