Work is already under way on the old pavilion with volunteers offering their services on the community noticeboard.
The Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) opened the doors of the old pavilion in Lamlash last Friday to celebrate its new ownership with the community. Representatives from Visit Arran, Arran High School and the Outdoor Education Centre, as well as many businesses, community groups and residents, had a chance to visit the building and discuss future plans for the Marine Discovery Centre.
Volunteers have already started renovation works on the pavilion, which will become the new headquarters of Arran’s Marine Protected Area. This building will provide an office space for COAST and a hub for marine activities and education until the new building for the Marine Discovery Centre is completed by 2020.
