North Ayrshire seeks key marine role

North Ayrshire is getting set to play its part in ensuring that its coastal waters are safely protected for future generations.

The new Clyde Marine Planning Partnership (CMPP) has been given new powers to create a regional marine plan after taking over from the Firth of Clyde Forum (FCF) earlier this year.

Karen Yeomans, executive director for economy and communities, said: ‘North Ayrshire is widely known for its fantastic coastline, its islands, its harbours and marine heritage which attract both regional and national interest.
