One year before the London Olympics, we asked the athletics competition manager if there would be an event for the press and we received a blank look. But London 2017’s managing director, Cherry Alexander, answered the same question last week with “definitely, why not?”
To be fair to London 2012, the Olympics never stages a media race, but it has proved popular at European and World Championships, usually over 800m.
