MARKUS REHM will no longer seek participation at the 2016 Olympic Games and has instead turned his focus to competing against able-bodied athletes at the London 2017 World Championships, the IAAF confirmed.

The Paralympic long jump champion and T44 world record-holder had hoped to participate at both the Olympics and Paralympics this summer but after a meeting with the IAAF Council last month the international governing body stated that the German had failed to prove to an IAAF working group that his prosthetic leg did not give him a “competitive advantage”.
