TOO many 12-14-year-olds are regularly consuming sports drinks, increasing their risk of dental health problems and tooth erosion, claims a new study by experts at the Cardiff University School of Dentistry.

Sports drinks: sugars and acids contain in the products are linked to dental health problems and obesity
Results of the survey, published in the British Dental Journal, showed that almost one fifth of 160 children questioned, drink the highly sweetened products because of a perceived performance-enhancing effect. Half claimed to drink sports drinks socially and 90% said taste was a factor.
