Jack Braughton: took the bus to the 1948 Olympics but given VIP treatment for 2012 (inset, with his son)
JACK BRAUGHTON, one of Britain’s oldest track and field Olympians, has died at the age of 95.
Best known for taking time off work unpaid to compete in the 1948 Olympics and travelling to the stadium on the No.12 bus, Jack raced in the 5000m heats, finishing eighth before going home for his tea.
