ACRESTFALLEN Martyn Rooney says he dedicated his Olympic 400m race to team-mate Rabah Yousif, who was forced to withdraw from his own heat due to an injury during the pre-Games training camp.
Rooney, double European champion in the one-lap event, was frustrated by his failure to progress beyond his heat, where he was fourth in a time of 45.60.
Before competition began British Athletics announced Yousif would be available to compete as part of the 4x400m relay team, but Rooney was disappointed that the Sudanese-born Brit missed out on the chance of competing individually.
