Diet — one of the most offensive words ever. But for the past two months I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone, to try something new. So, with a six-week-away Miami Beach goal, I set out some rules. Nothing complicated, just things like 10-12 portions of fruit and veg a day, drinking at least two litres of water, minimising sugar intake and making each meal from scratch so I know what’s going in. I added intermittent fasting and that was the biggest challenge. You choose an eight-hour window where you eat your daily calories as normal (I chose 11.30am until 7.30pm). Then you fast for the remaining 16 hours, only drinking water or black coffee/tea. You do this for six days, and on the seventh day you can go crazy and eat what you like. My days looked like this:
