SYDNEY SUBURBAN PASSENGER TRAIN SERVICE
A contemporary snapshot of the developing Sydney Suburban system in 1936. Peak-hour strain plagued the system, but the incomplete City Circle shows the limitations of trains not being able to run continuously through the city, without having to terminate at Wynyard and St. James Stations.

CAMPBELLTOWN – 50 YEARS ON
Col Gilbertson reminds us of the opening of the electrification to Campbelltown and Glenlee; that same day, Saturday 4 May 1968, Campbelltown was also officially declared a city 50 years ago.

BEGINNING WORK ON THE NEW HAWKESBURY RIVER BRIDGE
The first bridge, the third largest in the world at the time, had been opened in 1889, but it had proved to be badly built and its complete replacement, on a parallel alignment, became necessary in 1939. Fifteen glass plate negatives, show the preliminary works of the great adventure of the new bridge.

PLUS:
• The Log Cabin Picnic and Dance Trains
• Steam at Tailem Bend - Pictorial

Anyone interested in Australian Railway history, this is a well produced, and high quality mag. My great grandfather helped built many of these railways in late 19C. Recensito 22 novembre 2018
