Hello Bake & Decorate friends and a very jolly welcome to our November issue. It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I hope you’re as excited as I am for the best season for baking and sharing with friends and family.
There’s loads of festive inspiration in this month’s magazine and for this issue I’ve given you an alternative Christmas cake recipe which is a decadent, rich chocolate and peppermint torte cake. I’ve decorated it with my ‘Holiday Cheer ‘ sprinkles which I have created in collaboration with the brilliant team at Scrumptious Sprinkles. You can find them over at www.scrumptious.uk.net. I hope you’ll give it a go. It looks impressive but is actually very easy to make. If you’d like to see any videos of how to crumb coat and second coat a buttercream cake with tips for getting your cake really neat, I’ve got some videos of how to on my youtube channel.
The other great thing about Christmas is all the fantastic films to watch and I’m very excited because at last, Matilda the Musical is coming out this November. I worked on the movie, and it was an amazing experience especially as I am such a fan of Emma Thompson. I’m now allowed to reveal that I created the iconic Bruce Bogtrotter cake. It was a dream job, The whole scene took over two weeks to film and I was lucky to watch a preview with the cast and crew last month. It was so magical, I loved it. I hope you will watch it and let me know what you think of the cake.
