Best Days Vintage does more for the community of Colchester than just sell cool, one-off vintage pieces. Whilst secondhand clothing is one of the most sustainable ways to shop, Best Days Vintage also has a strong emphasis on mental health, aiming to make a difference to the lives of young people by offering them a safe place to visit if ever they need a chat or some company. We caught up with founders, Steve Hurdle and Jez Dixon, to find out more about their multi-faceted mission.
I have been best mates with Jez since university – that’s 20 years and counting. We formed a band and in our 20s travelled in the back of a transit van on tour – we had the mad idea that we would be rock stars. At the same time we worked part time in London for Rokit Vintage, which is where we both discovered our love for old clothing, the journey it goes on, and the relationship people had with these pre-loved pieces. We both ended up managing stores, before launching Best Days together seven years ago. While we now have our own families, we still enjoy working together, and carrying on our adventures in vintage clothing.
