Capturing Steph

The Steph Curry art that graces the cover of this issue was created by renowned sports artist Robert McFetridge exclusively for Beckett Basketball.

We gave Robert the cover subject and he did the rest, bringing to life one of the most popular players in the all of sports, not just the NBA. “I put my heart into this one,” the artist said, which is an understatement because McFetridge puts his heart and soul into all of his work. It’s what makes his work stand out from the crowd. And it shows with this project. Rob’s vision of Curry is striking.

This isn’t the first time a McFetridge piece of art has appeared in a Beckett publication. He was part of the Artist Spotlight special section in the June 2019 issue of Beckett Baseball where his baseball and football works were among several highlighted. He now has added basketball. Check out Chris Stevens’ piece on the popularity of Curry starting on page 4. You’ll begin to understand why the 31-year-old is the kinder, gentler face of today’s sport landscape.
